The Owensboro Area museum of Science and History has one traveling or temporary exhibit gallery and 3 permanent exhibit galleries, each unique and interesting in its own right. An additional 3 permanent galleries are in the design. In-depth educational programming, developed in accordance to state educational content requirements and guidelines, is offered with the exhibits in each gallery. Sponsored and constructed by the Owensboro Rotary Club, opened in November, 2005 to record crowds. The indoor playground gives children ages 10 and under the opportunity to play in a colorful, themed environment based on local landscape and history. Playground components include crawl tubes and bridges, a riverboat, train, train station and tree houses.

ENCOUNTER ENCOUNTER, our "hands-on, minds-on" gallery, is a true “edu-tainment” experience. The young and young-at-heart can make a magnet bridge, tell a story in the puppet theater, experiment with the Bernoulli Effect or leave a “permanent” image in our shadow room.
Wendell H. Ford Government Education CenterThe Wendell H. Ford Government Education Center, was founded by U.S. Senator (retired) Wendell Hampton Ford, Kentucky's longest serving U.S. Senator. The center is dedicated to engaging citizens of all ages in the governmental process. Visitors can learn about Senator Ford’s long career in local, state and national government while learning about our dynamic, participatory form of governance.
